November 2009
Salma and her family still live in Kampala, Uganda where Salma has now found paid work with a local refugee organisation. She has recently been working in the Eastern part of the country bringing help to victims of the severe landslides that have arisen after recent heavy rains. As a single parent with limited resources, Salma has had to meet many challenges. Uganda has been affected by the global economic crisis and recent climate problems, which caused scarcities and foods prices to soar. She often had to get to local markets in the early morning in order to find food for the family. However, our regular contributions have enabled her to maintain the girls at school and provide necessities such as medication for Iman and school uniforms. Salma is always so appreciative of our help. Our contributions make so much difference to the quality of life of her and her family and she thanks each and every one of her friends in Britain for this help.

November 2007 - Great News
Great news - Salma is able to progress with her aim to access education and training. She is enrolled for part-time courses starting in Jan to study IT, keyboard skills and counselling. The cost of fees has been met through a generous donation from from Darlington businessman Peter Matthews. She hopes that this will lead to a good job, however she will need continued support while she is studying.
The family was thrilled to receive no less than 5 parcels from well-wishers which included a birthday present for Iman and books for Amal and much appreciated items of clothing for the girls.

October 2007 - A Difficult Month
A difficult month for Salma as she was diagnosed with malaria, but fortunately was able to get medication. Unfortunately during that time she was unable to work, but we were able to send an emergency payment to help out. Salma’s mum has also had eyesight problems due to diabetes but she is now obtaining medication to help contain this condition - artificial sweetners sent by Yvonne are helping with her dietary needs.

August-September 2007 - The Girls Change Schools
The girls have changed schools but have settled in well. Iman‘s eczema has almost disappeared since the parcels of e45 cream started to arrive. Many thanks to Yvonne and her family for their generosity and all those others who have contributed to this deserving cause. Our contributions are making a REAL difference to this family. Salma is so appreciative of all contributions but also of the fact that she has friends in the UK who really care.

May, June & July 2007 - First parcels Sent, Imam has another bout of Malaria
